When purchasing products for installation in your home, its important to understand that often times those items have a factory finish that is supposed to be later covered by the homeowner or their contractor with their own decorative finishes.
Pre-Finished Doors are not Painted
Here we have a pre finished door that was never finished. This is a common mistake people make. A pre finished door, just means that the door is primed with a powder coat finish. The door still needs to be painted!
We lightly sanded the rust, and then primed the door with Rust Oleum Rusty Metal Primer. Then we applied two coats of Behr Dynasty Exterior Satin Latex. We also primed the door frame with Sherwin Williams Exterior Oil Primer, and applied two coats of paint to the frame and kick plate.
