Interior Painting: Living room, hall, stairway

Cheektowaga NY: Last year we repaired the popcorn ceiling in the living room, and then painted the ceiling. This week we are back to some interior painting in the living room, hall, and stairway leading upstairs.

The home hasn’t been painted in about 10 years, and the homeowners are looking to downsize. So to make the home more presentable for sale, we changed the colors of the walls in the common areas to High Style Beige by Behr.

Aside from the living room ceiling, the other ceilings have never been painted. While painting the popcorn ceilings would definitely make the areas brighter and cleaner (versus 40 year old popcorn), it makes removal by the new owners much more difficult. So everyone agreed to leave them alone.

We pole sanded the walls, and patched the nail holes, nail pops, and a few areas in the stairwell we didn’t like. After sanding all the patches, we used a dedicated oil primer to spot prime the patches. This helps prevent the patches from flashing through the finish paint by sealing the new compound to the un-patched areas and the patched areas have similar moisture absorption rates.

That applied two coats of paint to the walls.
