Water Damage Ceiling Repair in West Seneca NY

Water Damage Ceiling Repair in West Seneca NY

We were called to repair some water damage to a popcorn ceiling in West Seneca NY. While the water damage looked minor, after further inspection we discovered that the ceiling drywall was warped. This created a bump in the ceiling, not really a problem, but upon repairing it, would create a bump in the ceiling that will be difficult to blend later. Even though we are spraying popcorn texture, the texture won’t cover everything.

Ceiling Repair

Originally we were going to just repair the small damaged area. However upon opening the ceiling a little bit we discovered that the drywall wasn’t really attached to anything, so we decided to remove the bowed area. This revealed a sagging ceiling joist. Not much, maybe 3/8″ but enough that putting one piece of drywall into the hole, would just be aggravating, so to preserve our sanity we cut the board in half.

Once the sheetrock was in place, we mudded the joints and finished the patch (we forgot to take photos before we left for the day)

Ceiling Crack Repair

We also addressed a crack in the ceiling near this area as well. Who ever repaired this crack previously, did it correctly. (Yay!) However it still cracked. So we cleaned it out, and re-repaired the crack and hopefully it will work this time.
