The pink stuff is a special glue which aids in the longevity of our plaster patches. This damage was effectively hidden by the popcorn. We filled the area with finish plaster, and then tightly skim coated it with Dust Control drywall compound. Given the weird angle, compound was easier to use to shape the corner, while the plaster was used to fill in the deeper sections to avoid multiple coats of drywall compound.

Once these areas were patched, we placed a fan on the area at the end of the day to dry the patches so we could prime and paint the next day. Turned out quite nice.
