Painting a Tudor Home in Kenmore – Last Exterior House Painting of 2024!

This is our last exterior house painting of the 2024 painting season. Over night temperatures are dropping, meaning paint wont have adequate time to dry and cure before potential moisture condenses on the surfaces. Good painting weather also often becomes a problem. Don’t forget, in 2006, we all had 3 feet of snow on the ground on the 15th of October! Now while this year we are blessed with a mild fall, winter is coming. And no one like to paint outside in the cold.

So this will be our last exterior house painting for 2024.

We began by pressure washing the cream panels. The house was egged at one point and while the home owner was able to remove the majority, it took our pressure washer to remove the rest. Also the previous paint seemed to be coming off rather easily, so we went ahead and removed that as well. When it comes to painting anything that has been painted previously, your relying on the previous coating to not lose adhesion causing your paint to peal as well. So it is important to get back to a sound paintable surface.

After the pressure washing was done, we primed all the bare spots with Sherwin Williams Multi-Surface Exterior oil primer. Then we top coat with 2 coats of Behr Dynasty Exterior Satin.

The previous owner of the home, wrapped all the wood in aluminum. Made prep work a breeze. As a result it significantly cut down on the cost to paint the front of the home.

We also did the three little peaks. Below is 2 of the 3. The third one is on the far side of the home.
